Our Mission
The purpose of the Lake Holcombe Improvement Association, Inc. is to preserve and protect Lake Holcombe and its surroundings, and to educate the public on water quality, fishery, boating safety and aesthetic values of Lake Holcombe as a public recreational facility for today and tomorrow.
What is a Rock Reef
A rock reef is a shallow underwater area made mostly of rock, boulders, or bedrock instead of coral or sand.
It acts like underwater structure: fish, shellfish, plants, algae, and other aquatic life use it for cover, feeding, spawning, and shelter.
A few examples:
-
In the ocean, a rock reef might be a natural rocky ridge that supports kelp, mussels, crabs, and fish.
-
In a lake, a rock reef might be a shallow rocky hump or point that attracts bass, walleye, panfish, and baitfish.
-
An artificial rock reef is made by placing rocks underwater to improve fish habitat or protect shorelines.
The simple difference: coral reefs are built by living coral; rock reefs are built from stone.

Rock Reef Challenge!
Larry and Jackie Meyer of Meyer Manufacturing have put forth a challenge. They will match up to $10,000 in donations from individuals or businesses to be put towards rock reefs on Lake Holcombe.
Rock reefs are put thru the ice in the winter in 20 ft or more of water to promote fish habitat.
Help support our lake improvement project by donating between now and Labor Day.
You can donate via PayPal (@lakeholcombeimprove) or by writing a check to LHIA and sending it to LHIA P.O. Box 325 Holcombe, WI 54745.
Thank you Larry and Jackie!
